Sound barrier, a specially designed acoustic barrier that stands between a noise source and a sound-receiving point. It is usually designed for a specific sound source and a specific protection location (or area).
Sound barriers are mainly used for sound insulation and noise reduction on roads, highways, elevated composite roads and other noise sources. Divided into pure sound insulation reflective sound barriers, and sound absorption and sound insulation combined with composite sound barriers, the latter is a more effective method of sound insulation. It refers to the wall-type structures set up on the side of railroads and highways to mitigate the impact of traffic noise on nearby residents. A soundproof wall is also known as a sound barrier. A facility inserted between a sound source and a receiver so that there is a significant additional attenuation of sound wave propagation, thereby attenuating the noise impact in a certain area where the receiver is located, is called a sound barrier. They are classified as traffic noise barriers, equipment noise attenuation noise barriers, industrial plant noise barriers, and highways and freeways are the places where all types of sound barriers are most used.
Sound barriers can be further classified into the following categories according to the material: metal sound barriers (metal louvers, metal screen holes), concrete sound barriers (lightweight concrete, high strength concrete), PC sound barriers, glass fiber reinforced plastic sound barriers and so on.
